Joventut de Badalona 68–75 Barça: Reaction in the third quarter

Jasikevicius' side recovered from a poor first half to come back and win in the third pre-season game

A third win in three preseason games as Barça beat Joventut de Badalona (68-75) this Sunday in a match played at the Olímpic de Badalona. In the first half, Sarunas Jasikevicius' side were outscored in the rebound and lost the ball, but a reaction in the third period helped the Catalans to prevail.

The game began with Joventut de Badalona taking advantage of the first possessions (8-0), though Barça's 0-7 reaction brought them right back into it. However, the hosts quickly reopened a gap and, with a basket from Dawson on the horn, ended the period 20-13.

In the second period, Barça saw their opponents go 10 points ahead (31-21, min 14). A good few minutes and a successful Orihuela saw the Catalans briefly back in contention (31-28), but once again, a greater success at the basket saw Joventut surge ahead by halftime (40-32).

Barça increase the pace

In the second half, Barça were able to find the rhythm of the game much more, and by 28 minutes had their noses in front (46-47). A fourth period which saw them stay ahead meant a third win on the trot. The next challenge will be on Friday 4 September, in the semifinals of the Catalan League against Manresa.
