De Jong: 'We really want to compete'

The Dutch midfielder talked about the latest Barça news and more in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live this Sunday, Frenkie de Jong talked about the latest Barça news, his feelings about the return to training and his first months in Barcelona. Below, are some of his statements from that interview:

Return to training

"We all really wanted to see each other again and go back to training."

"The hardest part was when we had to train in small groups because the limitations we had were necessary, but it got tough."

“There is a very good atmosphere. We really want to compete, the sessions are very intense, I think even more than before the break."

Personal feelings

"I can improve, but things are going well and I'm very happy with the team and everything in general."

"I can play in various positions. I feel very comfortable anywhere in the middle of the field."

The return of football and the Bundesliga

"I've seen some games and I think the players haven't changed, but the atmosphere is completely different. Personally, it made me happy to watch football again.”

Leo Messi

"Leo Messi is clearly the best player in the world, and when he gives me advice it's always very useful."

His first months at Barça

"I'm very happy here, playing for Barça was a dream since I was a child because it's my favourite club outside the Netherlands, and so when they came and were so interested in me, they made it easier for me to sign."

"At Barça the goal is to play well and win everything. The pressure is very high and you want to win every title, but I love that."

"For me, Ajax and Barça are very similar in the way they see football."
