The players to wear a commemorative shirt before matches to mark 40 years of La Masia

The 50 FC Barcelona teams competing this weekend, from the professionals to the youth teams, will wear the shirt celebrating the anniversary for La Masia

It will be an emotional weekend at FC Barcelona as all the teams at the Club who are competing this weekend, before their respective matches, will wear a commemorative shirt to celebrate La Masia's 40th birthday after its opening on 20 October 1979. It will be the first tribute to celebrate the anniversary in a series of planned activities to remember the occasions during the season.

On Saturday, the football first team, who have a game in Valencia against Levante, down to the youngest representatives such as the U8 football team and the futsal and roller hockey youth sides, will wear a shirt that pays tribute to La Masia. Amongst them will be U16B player Cristóbal Muñoz and U16A players Alejandro Ramos and Pablo Páez who modeled the shirt in a photo session which took place at La Masia.

The dark blue shirt includes a logo that has been designed especially for the occasion bearing the number 40 for a total of 50 FC Barcelona teams.

Away at Levante always a special occasion

For the first team, Saturday's date in La Liga will have special symbolism as it was the venue where Barça played for the first and up until now only time with 11 players from La Masia. On 25 November 2012 Tito Vilanovia's team played 60 minutes with an eleven formed by Valdés, Montoya,  Piqué, Puyol, Jordi Alba, Sergio, Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro and Messi in game that ended in a 4-0 victory.

Mural tribute

To pay tribute to that team, at La Masia a mural has been unveiled that represents the 11 players from the Barça youth set up who played together on the field that day against Levante.
