Miami is enjoying the full atmosphere of football and Barça and we got a taste of that on Tuesday in the neighborhood of Coral Gables with a Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 Social Tournament involving about thirty youngsters from the ‘Penya Barcelonista de Miami’.
The venue was the Sports Bar, the club’s base, and Barça fans spent a good three hours enjoying the videogame developed by KONAMI. This is the second edition of the tournament, after the last one took place in Dallas in 2018, also during a Barça tour of the United States.
The tournament was attended by several representatives of FC Barcelona, led by director Javier Bordas, joined by the director in charge of the social commission, Josep Maria Barnils, and former player and club ambassador, Juliano Belletti, along with several representatives of the penya movement. These included Toni Freire, president of the FC Barcelona World Penyes Federation. Local guests included the mayor of Coral Gables, Raul Valdés-Fauli, who joined the Barça representatives in declaring the tournament officially open.
As well as the participants, about a hundred other people came by the Sports Bar to watch the competition and spend some time in the company of fellow fans. Belletti’s presence was an added attraction for many of them, who were able to take pictures and chat with the ‘hero of Paris’. In short, a wonderful morning of Barça bonding that will continue into Tuesday evening with the Barça Fest Miami being held in Bayfront Park.
