FC Barcelona and Association Sportive de Saint-Étienne Loire have reached an agreement for the sale of Sergi Palencia to the French club. The fee for the player is 2 million euros, plus 1 million in variables.
Barça will also receive 20% of any future fee paid for the sale of Palencia by Saint-Étienne.
The club wish to publically thank Sergi Palencia for his commitment and dedication, and wish him success in the future.
The captain of Barça B's 2016/17 promotion
Palencia's time at FC Barcelona thus ends after 12 seasons. He spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Girondins, after having captained Barça B during two seasons (2016/17 and 2017/18). In 2016/17 he led the team to promotion to the Segunda División. The player from Badalona appeared 103 times with the B team, as well as playing for the first team in the Catalan Super Cup against Espanyol in 2016/17.
