22-year-old Canary Islanders to leave Atlético Madrid and rejoin the club where it all started for her
FC Barcelona has reached an agreement for Andrea Sánchez Falcón to return to the club on 30 July 2021, when her current contract with Atlético Madrid expires.
The 22-year-old Canary Islander is a left-sided attacking midfielder, who can also play at full back or as part of the frontline.
She was just 15 when she came to FC Barcelona for the first time, and later alternated between the first and second teams, even gaining her first Champions League experience in 2013 and playing youth level football for Spain.
After winning three leagues and two cups, she moved to Atlético and won three further league titles while also winning her first senior international cap. She’s now a regular part of the national squad.
Andrea Falcón will officially put pen to paper some time in the coming weeks.
What she said…
“I can’t put into words how thrilled I am to be coming back. It’s like a homecoming. The first time I came when I was just 15 I had to leave my whole family behind in the Canaries. In Barcelona I not only grew as a footballer but as a person too.”
“Seven years later and I’m on my way back. I’m not that little girl any more but I’m just as excited and looking forward to continuing to develop at the club that gave me my first chance in life.”
