Wague pre-selected by Senegal for Africa Cup of Nations

The Barça defender would be the club's lone representative in this summer's tournament, which is being held in Egypt

FC Barcelona player Moussa Wague has been provisionally called upon by Senegal to play in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which is being held in Egypt from June 29 to July 19. If his selection is confirmed, Wague, a reserve player who made his first team debut this season, would thus become the seventh Barça player ever to be summoned for the competition, although he would be the only one this summer.

The 20-year-old defender played in the 2011 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, appearing in five matches and getting one assist. Wague also played for Senegal's senior team in the 2018 World Cup, scoring a goal against Japan to become — at 19 years, 8 months, and 20 days old — the youngest African player ever to find the net in a World Cup.

Among the former Barça players to have previously played in the Africa Cup of Nations are Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Touré and Seydou Keita. Below is the full list of Barça players to have appeared in the competition.
