The 27-year-old German played in 49 total games this season, including 35 of the team's 38 La Liga matches, both legs of the Copa del Rey semifinals against Real Madrid, 11 Champions League clashes, and the Spanish Super Cup versus Sevilla. He was one of the keys to Barça's La Liga title this season, and turned in a fine performance in the Copa del Rey semifinals to help get Barça to the final.
