Lleida Esportiu 1 – 2 Barça B: Not over yet

Barça keep hope alive for possible promotion after a late win on the far side of Catalonia

This time, good luck accompanied Barça B, which earned a well-deserved 2-1 victory at Lleida Esportiu on Sunday, beating a direct rival in the race for fourth place. Carles Pérez scored the game-winner in second half injury time, just three minutes after Lleida had drawn level through Juanito. Barça B also got an own-goal in the 67th.

Barça dominated the game early and had the best scoring chances, including a pair of shots by Gabriel Novaes. Iñaki Peña made saves in the 26th and 34th to keep the hosts off the board.

In the second half, the blaugranes and Gabriel picked up where they left off in the first, but were unable to find the net. Both sides began taking more risks in an attempt to strike first.

It was during this time, in the 67th, that Araujo’s shot caromed off Xemi and into the net for an own goal, putting Barça up, 1-0.

Lleida then went all out to try and find the equalizer, and they finally got it in the 87th, when Juanito scored off a corner kick.

But when the match appeared headed for a draw, Gabriel took advantage of a misplay by the Lleida keeper to steal the ball and assist Carles Pérez for the game winner in injury time.

Barça B have two games remaining and are still alive for a playoff spot. Their next match is on Sunday against Hércules at the Miniestadi.
