Should Atlético Madrid lose at home to Valencia the blaugranes would take the league championship title
After the 2-0 win at Alavés on Tuesday Ernesto Valverde’s team are one step closer to the league title. Barça could be league champions on Wednesday should Atlético Madrid lose at home in the Wanda Metropolitano. The blaugranes would have a 12 point advantage with four games remaining but their superior head to head record against Diego Simeone’s would see them mathematically 2018/19 league champions. If Atlético pick up a point or take all three against Valencia then Barça will have to wait until Saturday to have a chance to claim the title.
Scenario on Saturday
Atlético Madrid play first on Saturday at home to Valladolid (kick off 4.15pm CEST). Barça are at home to Levante at Camp Nou, a game that kicks off at 8.45pm CEST.
If Atlético draw against Valencia and then fail to beat Valladolid then Barça would be champions before kicking a ball at the weekend.
If Atlético win against Valencia and draw Valladolid then Barça would need just a point to be champions against Levante.
If Atlético win against both Valencia and Valladolid then Barça would need all three points against Levante to be champions.
