Jenni and Olga score as Spain win 3-0 in Ireland

Six of the eight FC Barcelona players in the squad feature in Euro 2017 qualifier in Dublin

Spain, with eight Barça players in the squad and five in the starting eleven, beat Ireland 3-0 in Thursday’s qualifier for the 2017 European Championship in Holland. With two wins out of two, Jorge Vilda’s side top their group on goal difference ahead of Finland, who have played one game more.

Marta Torrejón, Ruth García, Melanie Serrano, Jenni Hermoso and Alexia Putellas all started the game at the Tallaght Stadium, Dublin. It was Hermoso who converted a penalty to score Spain’s second of the game, after former FCB player Vicky Losada (now at Arsenal) had grabbed the first. Barça’s Olga Garcia came on for the last half hour and it was she who completed the 3-0 win.

Sandra Paños and Leire Landa were left on the bench.

Next up before reporting back for club duty is Spain’s first home game of their qualification campaign, against Portugal in Badajoz on Tuesday at 8.00pm CET.
