Leo Maciel, Barça goalkeeper for 2021/22
The Argentinian shotstopper has signed for a season for the handball team
The second signing of the season for the Barça handball team for the 2021/22 season is the goalkeeper Leo Maciel. The Argentine keeper has spent the last four seasons at Ciudad Encantada and he comes to the Club to join forces with fellow keeper Pérez de Vargas. Maciel fills the gap left by the departure of Kevin Möller for SG Flensburg after his contract expired on 30 June.
Maciel has great experience of playing in the Asobal league after spells with Zamora in 2015-17 and Pilotes Posada from 2009-11. The keeper is part of his country's national team for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. The experienced 32 year old will team up with Pérez de Vargas to form one of the best goalkeeping tandems on the continent.
