This wasn't just any Saturday at the Palau Blaugrana because it was Barça's last handball match of a peculiar and difficult season at all levels. A 28th Sacyr ASOBAL League title in the history of the club was earned, but a number of technical staff and players will leave.
The Palau has said goodbye to the season, and with it Xavi Pascual, Raúl Entrerríos, Cédric Sorhaindo, David Barrufet, Jure Dolenec, Aron Pálmarsson, Alex Pascual and Kevin Möller who all received thunderous applause from the Palau's supporters and a special shirt from president Joan Laporta, however, none will be at Barça next season.
"After 12 years I would like to thank the three presidents I have worked with and who have allowed me to fulfill the dream of leading this team. I also want to thank all the players I have had. We have built a team with feelings, not just a winner of titles."
"I would also like to dedicate this league to a person we love very much, who has helped us a lot, Salvador Canals. And we could not have experienced success without an extraordinary staff."
"I also want to thank my family, who are everything to me. I have two brothers, one blood and the other as if he were. Thank you, David Barrufet."
"It's a sad day for many reasons. Celebrating a new league title and a spectacular season where the team has been amazing. but we'll keep working until we make this season more unforgettable."
"For 11 seasons, I have enjoyed the Palau Blaugrana crowd. I have worked hard and done my best to finish my career in this wonderful place. I have been able to see that Barça is 'More than a club.' I have heard 'I love you' all these years and I have tried to return it with all my work. I also want to thank Xavi Pascual and my colleagues, who have become friends and family for life."
"I will speak from the heart. First I want to thank Xavi Pascual and the people who have supported me during these 11 years. I ended up in the best club in the world, where I found very important people. I also want to thank the club people who are in the shadows, and for all the affection I've received all these years."
"I'm very proud to have shared four years with you. It's a bit of a sad day, but it's also a dream come true, to play at this club. Thank you all, my family and the players. Now we want the Champions League."
"I wanted to thank all the people and all the coaches who have been with me from kindergarten to this stage. It has been a dream come true to play with team-mates who as a child I saw from the stands. Now it's time to win the cup and the Champions League."
