The Barça futsal team have fallen just short of making the Copa del Rey final, losing on penalties to Jaén (2-2; 3-5). Javi Rodríguez's side went ahead twice, but Jaén reacted and reached the final after taking the match to penalties to win.

Touré makes breakthrough

Barça managed to make an early breakthrough, as Touré beat his marker to fire in with a shot across the keeper into the far side of the goal. The goal forced Jaén to open up a bit and Barça made the most of the opportunity to create some clear chances, via a cross shot by João Víctor (min 8), a Matheus effort that hit the bar (min 13) and a powerful Erick effort turned away for a corner (min 14).

Dídac was also called into action and proved key to ensuring the score remained the same at the break, notably saving from a very powerful shot by Lemine (min 16), the clearest chance for Jaén in the first half.

Jaén win on penalties

A lively start to the second half saw Nando finish a rebound after Dídac saved from Esteban, drawing Jaén level (1-1, min 25). However, João Víctor then finished on the goal line to put Barça back in the lead (2-1, min 26). The joy was short-lived, though, as Míchel managed to beat Didac on the next play (2-2, min 27).

Barça were going through a bad spell and Jaén tightened up in defence, while testing Dídac twice. As there was no extra time and penalties loomed, neither side wanted to make a mistake that could prove decisive.

With two minutes to go, Barça used Eric Martel as a fly keeper and he almost finished a Pito cross (min 39), but that was the last opportunity in normal time and the match went to penalties. Antonio, Catela and Sergio González scored for Barça, but Pito missed, with Jaén scoring all their penalties to go through to the final.
