Into the World Cup break top of the table

Following their epic victory away at Osasuna, Barça will remain top of La Liga until New Year

The excellent win in El Sadar against Osasuna on Tuesday means that Xavi Hernández's team go into the break for the upcoming World Cup in the best shape possible. Barça are top of the table with 37 points from 14 matches, some five ahead of nearest rivals Real Madrid who have a game in hand.

The exciting 2-1 victory came with the blaugranes having to play last 60 minutes of the game down to 10 men following the dismissal of striker Robert Lewandowski.

In 14 games so far in La Liga, Barça have only dropped five points, winning 12 matches, drawing one and losing one. Xavi's side have scored 33 goals and conceded just five, the best attacking and defensive record in the division.
