Present and future: Pedri

At just 18 the young midfielder has become a fixture in the centre of the blaugrana midfield

Details

Name: Pedro González López, 'Pedri'

Date and place of birth: 25/11/2002 (Tegueste, Tenerife)

Came to Barça: On 2 September 2019 FC Barcelona and Las Palmas reach an agreement for the transfer of Pedri. However, the Canary Islander does join the club until August 2020.

Debut for the first team: On 27 September 2020 in a league game at Camp Nou against Villarreal as a second half substitute.

Constant development

Despite his youth, Pedri represents not only the future but also the present at Barça. At just 18 years of age he became a fixture in Ronald Koeman's midfield. With 42 appearances this season (31 in the starting XI), he is the player under 22 years of age who has played most in Europe's main leagues.

Excellent on the ball and a brilliant passer, the young man from Tenerife is fulfilling a dream he had had since very young: playing for Barça.

Since his official debut at the end of September, Pedri has improved non-stop and he has a great understanding with his team mates.

Messi i Pedri

Pedri figured in 29 straight matches for Barça in all competitions last season, a record as no other player has played in so many consecutive games.

Coming from a Barça family (his grandfather founded a Barça Supporters' Club in Tenerife), Pedri has impressed everyone in his first season as a blaugrana. Excellent performances in the league, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey have led a call up to the Spanish national side from coach Luis Enrique.
