They’ve done it again! Barça Women, for the sixth season running, are at the very least one of the two best teams in Europe. Pere Romeu’s side booked yet another Champions League final after beating Bayern Munich at the Spotify Camp Nou, sealing their place in Oslo on May 23.

Fourth final against Lyon

Their opponents were already known: France’s OL Lyonnes, who booked their spot on Saturday by beating Arsenal 3–1 in the second leg and overturning a 2–1 deficit from London. That sets up a fourth European final between the Catalans and the French giants. The first, in Budapest in 2019, went Lyon’s way 4–1, Barça’s maiden final.

Three years later they met again in Turin, and Lyon won again, 3–1. It wasn’t until 2024 in Bilbao, at the third attempt, that Barça finally got the better of them, with goals from Aitana and Alexia. Now Oslo will decide the next chapter.

Sixth final in a row

This will be Barça’s seventh Champions League final (and their sixth in a row). Since their debut in 2019, they’ve only missed out once, in 2020. They lifted their first title in Gothenburg in 2021, fell in Turin in 2022, then went back-to-back in 2023 and 2024, beating Wolfsburg in Eindhoven and Lyon in Bilbao.

They fell just short in Lisbon last season against Arsenal, but they’re back again. This team is firmly established among Europe’s elite, and on the 23rd, they’ll be aiming to touch the sky once more.
