Next opponent in the Women’s Champions League quarterfinals confirmed for FC Barcelona. The blaugranes had finished top of the League Phase and they now know will face Real Madrid in the WCL quarterfinal knockout round.
The first leg is set to be played at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium on 24 March, with the return leg in Barcelona on 2 April.
Pau Quesada's Real Madrid side made it through to the next round in Europe after overcoming Paris FC in the play-off.
Linda and Weir the players to watch
Real Madrid have had to take the long route to reach the final stage of the Champions League after finishing in seventh place in the League Phase with 11 points from two wins, two draws and one defeat.
All the same, the all-whites have attacking players to be wary of in their ranks. That's the case with Linda Caicedo, who leads the way for assists for her team in the European competition with three, plus Caroline Weir, who is their leading scorer with four.
Three previous results bode well
These matches will be the fourth and fifth Clásicos this season. Pere Romeu's side won the three played so far, 4-0 in the Liga F, 2-0 in the Super Cup final and 0-4 in the recent Cup knockout game in Madrid. As fate would have it, there will also be a Liga F Clásico between both legs of the Champions League clash.
