FC Barcelona are counting down the hours until they play their sixth Champions League final. The Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon is the venue on Saturday as they face Arsenal in an attempt to lift the trophy for a third straight time.

The players landed in the Portuguese capital at midday, and after Pere Romeu, Alexia and Aitana spoke to the media in the press room, it was time to step out onto the stage of the final. As Pere Romeu said, “it’s been a week of hard work,” and the final stage of those efforts involved getting familiar with the surroundings where they'll be playing in 24 hours time.

Blaugrana terraces

The only difference on Friday, albeit a big one, was that the stands were empty. On Saturday afternoon, things are going to look very different. Barça fans are expected to be the vast majority on the terraces, having travelled in droves to flood the stadium with blaugrana.

Not only is the turf green in the José Alvalade, but also the seats, reflecting the colours of the club that usually graves this venue, Sporting Lisbon. But it'll be the famous Barça colours that dominate the stands tomorrow, although the red of Arsenal is going to be well-represented too.

So, when the ball gets rolling tomorrow. hopefully this spectacular stadium will be bearing witness to another chapter in the glorious European history of a team determined to become even more legendary than they already are.
