Real Madrid 0-3 Barça: El Clásico is still blaugrana

Rolfö, Aitana and Hansen score the goals in a convincing victory

Barça have kept alive their record of never having lost a women's Clásico against Real Madrid and have underscored their vast superiority over any other side in the Liga F. They dominated from start to to finish this Sunday evening and are now an immense 12 points clear at the top of the table. It's just a matter of time before they are confirmed as champions yet again.

Attention now switches to the Champions League quarter final second leg, where they lead 2-1 after the trip to SK Brann (Thursday 28 at 6.45pm CET).

Today things got off to the perfect start when Barça scored from their first big chance of the game. Graham Hansen started it by picking out Ona Batlle in space, who in turn threaded the killer pass for Fridolina Rolfö to finish off the move at the far post.

There was a moment of alarm at the other end when an Irene Paredes clearance hit her own post, but it was Barça who were doing most of the attacking, denied by some fine goalkeeping from Misa Rodríguez and by the woodwork when Salma Paralluelo could have ended the first half with a stunning goal.

Hansen-Aitana combo

The omnipresent Graham Hansen was involved in the second goal too, a magistral pass to the incoming Aitana, who practically only had to stroke the ball over the line to make it 2-0. And just minutes later the game was over when the same players, but with their roles reversed, produced goal number three.

Madrid did their best to rattle up some kind of consolation, and would have done had Cata Coll not been so alert to their intentions. And so it continues. The women's Clásico remains elusive to the all-whites as today, for the umpteenth time, Barça were just too good.
