Barça 7-0 Rosengård: Big win in Europe to end a wonderful year (7-0)

Barça Women score seven in the final game of the year and confirm their place in the Champions League quarterfinals

This Barça team has such a hunger and hardly ever fails to live up to expectations, and this game was no exception. After winning 0-6 against Rosengård just over a week ago, Jonatan Giráldez' side put on another show to beat the same side, this time 7-0.

After Salma Paralluelo sent a warning shot across the bows, first from a free kick and then failing to be awarded what looked like a clear penalty, Aitana entered the fray. Mukasa prevented the Ballon d'Or winner from scoring with a powerful shot, but it wasn't long before she showed her class with an assist.

Aitana shines in a supporting role

The assist went through the legs of an opponent, and Keira Walsh ran onto the ball to shoot towards goal, which took a deflection off a defender and went in (1-0, min. 15). The blaugranes wanted to make the game safe as soon as possible and went looking for a second, Pina saw Mukasa deflect onto the bar, while Mariona was prevented from making it 2-0 by a lot of traffic in the opponents' box.

Graham Hansen grabs the second before the break

However, it was just a matter of time before the second came, Graham Hansen receiving an outrageous back-heel assist from who else but Aitana before shooting past Mukasa (2-0, min. 34). The Swedish goalkeeper also kept the score down to 2-0 at halftime with a flying save to deny a Salma Paralluelo header.

Salma scores quickfire brace

Barça's forward clearly wanted to score and quickly got her reward in the second half. The 5072 in attendance at the full Estadi Johan Cruyff celebrated as Salma scored from a great ball swung in by Graham Hansen from the right (3-0, min. 54), before finishing first time from an Ona Batlle cross (4-0, min. 60).

Party-time at the Johan

With the Christmas vibe in full swing at the stadium and soft toys raining down at half time as part of a charity initiative, the fans had more goals to celebrate between singing and Mexican waves. The fifth goal was scored by Claudia Pina who rifled in a loose ball in the box (5-0, min, 73), before Marta Torrejón finished a ball headed across the box by Bronze after a good corner routine (6-0, min. 75). The seventh and final goal saw young Martina Fernández pressure a Rosengård defender, who scored in her own net (7-0, min. 85).

Another goalfest to end a wonderful 2023, which marked Jonatan Giráldez' 100th win as coach and also sealed passage into the Champions League quarterfinals.
