Lamine Yamal and Aitana Bonmatí receive Golden Boy 2023 awards

The Golden Boy 2023 awards presented by Tuttosport were certainly golden from a Barça point of view with two players collecting awards in the male and female categories.

Aitana Bonmatí was the recipient of the Golden Woman prize while Lamine Yamal gets the first ever Golden Boy The Youngest trophy. Neither of the players were able to go to the event in person but did sent message of thanks in the form of videos.

First win for Lamine Yamal

The Youngest award goes to him especially for becoming the youngest player ever to land on the Golden Boy podium, which is for the best player under 21, meaning the Barça teenager is an astonishing five years below the limit! This season he has broken all kinds of 'youngest ever' records for both club and country, and his first ever international award will obviously be very special for him.

In the video message that he sent to the gala, he said "I am very grateful, it make me proud to wear this shirt and to represent all Culers.".

Accolades galore for Aitana

Not only has Aitana won the Champions League and World Cup this amazing 2023, but she has also collected a staggering number of individual awards. Just a few weeks ago it was the Ballon d'Or, and she has also been named UEFA Women's Player of the Year, among many other honours.

She too sent a video message in which she says "individual prizes don't come without the work of the whole team, so I owe everything to my team-mates."
