Four from FC Barcelona among Golden Girl finalists

Salma Paralluelo, Vicky López, Esmee Brugts and Giulia Dragoni are all in the running for the prize

The FC Barcelona women's team are a constant success story, and today there was further positive news with the announcement that Salma Paralluelo, Vicky López, Esmee Brugts and Giulia Dragoni are all among the ten candidates to win the Golden Girl award.

The best player under 21 years of age in Europe will be named on December 4, and hopefully Barça will have a winner for the very first time. As the first edition only dates back to 2022, there haven't been too many chances so far, but Barça have been very quick to have an impact!

Salma, Vicky and Esmee all back

Salma Paralluelo is opting for the prize for the second time after winning the Spanish Liga with Barça and the World Cup with Spain. Vicky López is the youngest of the four Barça candidates, yet she too is a nominee for the second time, and that's despite officially being a Barça B player, although she has been working with the first team on many if not most occasions.

Esmee Brugts and Giulia Dragoni are both new recruits to the blaugrana cause. The Dutch midfielder was also shortlisted last year, meaning that the only total newcomer of the four is Italy's Giulia Dragoni, who is also part of Barça B but a full international for her country despite being only 16, and she was at the World Cup this summer.

So, four fabulous candidates, and we haven't got long to wait to find out whether one of them will be bringing home the title of Golden Girl. We wish them all the best of luck!
