Barça 3-0 Real Sociedad: Big win on Alexia's day

Barça make it 70 wins at the Johan Cruyff and the captain equals Jenni Hermoso's record of 181 goals

Barça are as unstoppable as ever at home and on Sunday evening put three goals past a Real Sociedad that has not always been easy to beat in recent meetings. That's 70 wins in 70 games for Barça at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on what was also a historic day for Alexia Putellas.

Aitana kicks off the fiesta

The day began with Aitana Bonmatí parading her UEFA Player of the Year trophy and eight minutes into the game itself the celebrations continued when Caroline Graham Hansen pounced on a rebound and dribbled her way towards a simple finish to make it 1-0.

Spurred by the goal, the Norwegian was inspired throughout the first half, but try as they could, Barça could not find a way past an equally inspired visiting goalkeeper in Lete.

Historic Alexia

But Real themselves produced precious little threat and a further Barça goal was just a matter of time. And when it came, it was Alexia Putellas who rifled in a thunderbolt that ties her as the all-time highest goalscorer in Barça history, where she is now matched with Jenni Hermoso on 181.

Ona Batlle very nearly got her own account open when she hit the post, and with Esmee Brugts and Keira Walsh on, the latter finally with her injury troubles behind her, the inevitable third came with six minutes to go, Hansen claiming her second of the day and making extra sure that Barça will stay top of the table with four wins out of four.
