Alexia joins part of training session
Women's captain moves into the next stage of her recovery programme
Alexia Putellas was able to join part of the Monday morning training session with the rest of the squad at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the first workout in preparation for the UWCL second leg against Roma on Wednesday at Spotify Camp Nou.
Barça's multiple award-winning captain tore cruciate ligaments in her left knee while training with the national team in July. Surgery on the 12th of the present month went well and she has been training alone on the pitch in recent weeks. She is now starting to exercise with her team-mates as she moves closer and closer to a full recovery.
In her own words
“I'm back to feeling a bit of my old self" she said. "Now it's a matter of patience, of continuing to work. We're into a new stage, which is gradually re-joining the team.”
"The doctors know about these things and they say that the process is going well. I have a very good feeling too. I can't wait to be available for selection again, but that depends on the doctors and my knee. We'll see how it reacts."
