Barça 2–1 Real Sociedad: Last ditch win

Barça 2–1 Real Sociedad: Last ditch win

The blaugranes take a last minute victory at home in a tough league encounter against the Basque side

Barça had to fight until the last minute to take a comeback win against Real Sociedad at home in the league. A last minute strike from Lucy Bronze handed Jonatan Giráldez's team all three points and maintains the blaurganes unbeaten record.

The visitors take the lead

The contest began with neither side dominating. Barça had more of the ball but they created little with it initially. Laia Codina had the best chance of the opening spell after a good cross from Mapi León.

Real Sociedad then began to cause problems on the counterattack. Norwegian Jensen had a series of chance but each time she was denied by Barça keeper Sandra Paños. Paralleulo had the best opportunity for the home side in the opening half, brining an excellent stop by Real keeper Nanclares.

The visitors pressed for an opening goal before the break and it came with just two minutes remaining in the half. A smart team move saw Le Guilly to give Natalia Arroyo's team a 1-0 lead at half time.

Comeback late on

Barça came out determined to turn things around after being down at half time for the first time this season. Marta Torrejón levelled things up on 62 minutes after pouncing on a loose ball in the Real Sociedad penalty area.

The visitors bounced back and came close to retaking the lead with Mapi León having to clear an effort of her own goaline on 80 minutes. Just when it appeared that Barça's 10 game winning streak would come to an end, Lucy Bronze appeared to score after a corner in the 89th minute to send the Estadi Johan Cruyff crazy.

The next game for Jonatan Girálsdez's team is on 7 December in the Champions League against Bayern Munich.
