Barça Women 1–1 PSG: Victory in the penalty shoot out (5-4)

Jonatan Giráldez's Barça Women side end up in third place in the Amo's French Cup preseason tournament after a penalty shoot out victory in the consolation game against French side PSG. The game ended on 90 minutes with the score 1-1 and Barça were happy to hang on after the sending off of Maria León just 12 minutes from the end. 

The game saw Geyse Ferreira score her first goal since joining Barça in the summer, equalised on 38 minutes after PSG's Ngueleu had put the French side ahead on the half hour mark.  

Early dominance 

Barça Women started their third preseason game in good form but they were unable to take their chances and PSG went ahead against the run of play on 30 minutes when Ngueleu pounced on a loose ball in the blaugrana box to beat keeper Sandra Paños. 

Nevertheless, the blaugranes were back on level terms just eight minutes later when Geyse Ferreira robbed the ball inside the PSG penalty area to score her first goal for Barça. 

Stalemate in the second half 

In the second half the game dynamic did not change and Barça continued to have the better of the chances without being able to find the goal that would have put them ahead. A great header from Maria León after a good cross from Rölfo almost handed the blaugranes but luck was not with them. 

In the 78th minute Barça were put on the back foot when María León was shown a red card for stopping a quick PSG counter attack. Down to 10 men, Barça went on the defensive and managed to send the game into a penalty shoot out. 

From the spot the blaugranes held their nerve and a miss from PSG's Karchaoui handed Jonatan Giráldez's team third place in the Amo's French Cup.
