Barça Women 6-1 Sporting de Huelva: Copa de la Reina Champions!
The Spanish Super Cup, LaLiga... and now the Copa de la Reina! Barça Women end the 21/22 season with the three domestic titles after beating Sporting de Huelva 6-1 in Alcorcón. An own goal, plus goals by María León, Crnogorcevic, Pina, Martens and Alexia earned a record ninth Copa win, the fifth league and cup double, and it is now the second time all three domestic titles have been won in the same season.
Barça dominated from the outset, and although it took time to make the breakthrough, it was already 2-0 at half time and looking positive. Sporting de Huelva proved very resilient during the early part of the game, and could have been taken the lead if Keane had kept her cool after Anita Marcos had hit the post after 20 minutes.
In the end it was a somewhat scruffy goal that made it 1-0. María León crossed the ball in from the left, Marta Torrejón headed and hit the right post, the ball bouncing out, before Fisher tried to clear and it went in off goalkeeper Dolan (25th minute). This seemed to settle the game down and it wasn't long before Martens swung in a corner from the right for María León to guide a header inside the left post to make it 2-0 after 32 minutes.
Barça came out after the break wanting to close out the game, but it was Sporting who added to the tension with a goal by Castelló after a rebound (2-1, 62nd minute). The reaction came and once again from a corner, this time Martens crossing from the left for Crnogorcevic to glance in a header to the right of the goal (3-1, 71st minute).
This team weren't finished even though the trophy was in sight, Clàudia Pina seized on a rebound from Alexia to toe poke in a fourth (4-1, 80th minute). Lieke Martens then added to her two assists with a fine header after a cross from the right by substitute Perreira (5-1, 86th minute). There was still time for who else but Alexia to make it 6-1 in the 92nd minute to seal a great cup win. Congratulations Champions!
