Barça Women captain Alexia Putellas has been chosen by the UEFA Technical Observer panel as the player of the season in the Women's Champions League for the 2021/22 season. The blaugrana was top scorer in the competition with 11 goals, one of which came in the 3-1 defeat in the final against OL Féminin on Saturday in Turin.
The award comes at the end of a season in which Putellas has already been named Ballon d'Or and winner of the FIFA Player of the Year. The captain has also moved to second on the all time appearance list for the blaugranes behind Melanie Serrano who retires at the end of the season.
UEFA also chose their best XI of the season in the competition with four blaugranes included. As well as Putellas, Mapi León, Aitana Bonmatí and Patri Guijarro were also included in a team that included Endler, Bathy, Renard, Bacha, Henry and Hegerberg from champions Lyon and Katoto from PSG.
