The Barça Women were as rampant as ever on Wednesday as they saw off Real Sociedad 9-1 in a game in which they made the home side pay for defensive errors in the first half. The Basques tried to make up for it after the break, but just left themselves open to even more punishment from Barça’s faultless frontline.
Oshoala opened the scoring after eight minutes, but Barça weren’t having it all their way, and former blaugrana Gemma Gili was especially impressive for the hosts. It took until moment before the break for the Nigerian to score her second of the day and her 100th in a Barça shirt.
With Real Sociedad coming forward, the task was easier in the second half. Rolfö made it three and quickly after that Irene Paredes and Martens scored four and five as the floodgates were finally opened.
Alexia, on the day that she matched Losada for appearances (376) for the sixth, then came Claudia Pina followed by Jenni, and in injury time after Real had managed to pull back a consolation goal, Marta Torrejón finished off the job with number nine.
