It’s all decided! Barça will be going into the next round as group winners after winning all five of the games played so far! Their latest victim was Arsenal, in the impressive Emirates Stadium, where great football and great goals from Aitana, Jenni Hermoso (x2) and Rolfo secured a 4-0 win.
There is still HB Køge Women to come at the Estadi Johan Cruyff next Wednesday, but the result of that game is immaterial.
The bad news is that Patri Guijarro tested positive for Covid before the game and will have to stay in London observing British protocols.
Barça hadbeaten the Gunners 4-1 in the home fixture, and so they knew they had every chance of winning this one too. It was Aitana who got them off the mark by capitalising on a defensive error in the 22nd minute. Jenni Hermoso soon added to the goal count by knocking in a Rolfo cross from the left.
Barça were all over the game, and just before the break, Rolfo made it three with an absolutely fabulous long-range strike.
Arsenal were harder to break down in the second half, which also saw Graham Hansen make her comeback from injury as Jenni Hermoso completed her brace a quarter of an hour from time.
Before the final game in the group, there’s an enticing visit to Real Madrid to come for a team that just can’t stop winning!
