Dutch star named best in Europe by Italian sports paper Tuttosport, with Barça team-mate Jenni Hermoso placing second
Lieke Martens has been named Golden Woman Player 2021 by Italian sports daily Tuttosport, as voted a jury of football legends. Her Barça team-mate Jenni Hermoso came second and Chelsea striker Pernille Harder placed third.
Martens played a decisive role on the Champions League semi-final and final, which completed a historic treble for the Barça women’s team. She is also one of the nominees for France Football’s Ballon d’Or award.
The day has been a Barça double, with Pedri winning the Golden Boy trophy as Europe’s best player under the age of 21.
The awards will be presented on December 13 in Turin.
