La Masia opens doors to first female residents

Nine girls from the Barça youth football programme will be taking upper secondary education while living at the Centre de Formació Oriol Tort

This Sunday afternoon, and for the first time in its more than 40 years, La Masia opned the doors to its first female residents. The nine Barça B footballers will be combing sport and study while living at the Centre de Formació Oriol Tort. These are Lucia Corrales, Berta Doltra, Judit Pujols, Ona Baradad, Laura Coronado, Meritxell Font, Martina Fernandez, Claudia Riumalló and Alba Caño.

In 2015, Patri Guijarro became the first footballer to take upper secondary education at La Masia and after 16 did so last season, this historic moment is one further example of FC Barcelona’s commitment to its women’s football team and gender equality.

Statement by Jordi Ventura
Coordinator of female youth football at FC Barcelona

“This is a historic moment, and another example of the team’s commitment to women’s sport. Since 2015, when the women’s football team turned professional, we have made giant strides and this is another major drive forward for the section and La Masia”.
