A good start from FC Barcelona Women's team in the UEFA Women's Champions League as a 4-1 win in Holland against PSV Vrouwen gives the blaugranes a greta advantage ahead of the second leg of their last 32 tie at Camp Nou. Goals from Hermoso, Oshoala, Martens and an own goal from Van den Berg for Barça underlined their superiority over the 90 minutes.
Barça Women came out looking intense and with a clear determination to get a good result ahead of the second leg. That commitment had its reward in just the fourth minute when Jenni Hermoso put the blaugranes ahead. Mariona and then Oshoala had opportunities to stretch the lead as the visitors dominated.
Barça keeper Sandra Paños did not have a shot to save until the 25th minute when she was tested by PSV. Just before half time the blaugranes added a second when PSV defender Van den Berg put through her own net.
The blaugranes came out in the second half equally as determined as the first and with a two goal lead. Martens went close before Oshoala added a third, finishing off a great pass from Torrejón.
At this point Lluis Cortés' team were in full control and it was no surprise when Lieke Martens made it four with just over quarter of an hour to go. Smits pulled one back for the Dutch team with just minutes to go but that did not hide the fact that Barça are in a great position to make it to the next round with the second leg to come at the Estadi Johan Cruyff next Wednesday, kick off 4.00pm CET.
