FC Barcelona has announced that it has reached an agreement with Ivan Rakitic to extend his contract through to 30 June 2021. The buyout clause will be set at 125 million euros, and he’ll be putting pen to paper on March 10 at 1.00pm CET in the club offices.
The Croat came to the Camp Nou in the summer of 2014 at the age of 26, having made his name in the ranks of Sevilla. An indispensable part of the Barça midfield, he has made 145 official appearances under Luis Enrique, and has scored 23 goals despite that not being his main role in the team. With six already this season, he’s on good course to matching or bettering his record of nine in his first year at the club.
