Leo Messi equals Carles Puyol’s total of all time appearances for FC Barcelona

Leo Messi continues making history with FC Barcelona. The Argentine start has now played 593 matches in the Barça shirt after his latest appearance in the Estadio José Alvalade against Sporting Clube. That total means he is now in equal third place on the all-time list at the Club with Carles Puyol with only Andrés Iniesta on 638 appearances and Xavi Hernández on 767 ahead of him.

High up the all-time list we also find current Barça players Sergio Busquets (442) and Gerard Piqué (405), both some way behind Messi who appears on course to become the player with most appearances in the Club’s history. That would be another feather in the cap of the best player in the history of the game.
