The all-Barça semi-final went Spain's way. With eight Barça players in their squad, the reigning European champions gave France no chance, winning 2-0 but, above all, dominating the game. Three FC Barcelona players started the match, and all three had a direct impact on the outcome.

Three star starters

First, Lamine Yamal won the penalty after being fouled by Lucas Digne, with Oyarzabal converting from the spot to make it 1-0. Then, in the second half, Dani Olmo produced a sublime assist after a one-two with Pedro Porro, who scored Spain's second to put the game beyond doubt. At the back, meanwhile, Pau Cubarsí was once again outstanding as Spain neutralised France's attacking threat.

Ferran and Pedri join the party

Ferran Torres and Pedri came on in the second half and worked tirelessly, helping Spain see out the game without any major scares. Jules Kounde played the full 90 minutes for the losing side.

Joan Garcia, Eric and Gavi on the bench

After a superb team performance, the Barça players already mentioned, together with Joan Garcia, Eric and Gavi, who cheered their teammates on from the bench, will now fight to lift the World Cup on Sunday against the winners of the other semi-final between Anthony Gordon's England and Leo Messi's Argentina. Just as in 2010, the only time Spain have reached and won a World Cup final, there will be eight Barça players in the squad.
