The list of teams competing in the LaLiga Primera division for the 26/27 season is now complete. The final team to be confirmed are Malaga, who came through the Liga Hypermotion promotion play-off final against fellow Andalusian side Almeria. The first leg in Malaga was goalless, but they managed to win 1-2 in Almeria to confirm their place in the top flight after eight seasons.

Back in Malaga after eight years

After eight seasons in the Primera RFEF and with a very young team, including many from their youth system, the Andalusians join Racing de Santander and Deportivo La Coruña, who went straight up. This means LaLiga champions Barça will be returning to Malaga for the first time since March 2018, when they won 0-2, when Suárez and Coutinho were the goalscorers.

That was the last of the 34 times the two teams have faced each other. Remember this is since 1994, when Málaga CF were founded after CD Málaga folded. So far there have been 24 wins for the blaugranes, plus six draws and four defeats, all in LaLiga. Of the last 10 matches, Barça have won six, and there were two draws and two defeats.

Seven in a row against Racing

The record is even better against the other two sides recently promoted to Primera. Last season saw a Copa del Rey match against Racing Santander, but if we look at LaLiga alone, they haven't faced either other since 2012, and the blaugranes won their last seven games against the Cantabrians, who only managed to earn two draws from the last 10 meetings. The all-time LaLiga record in the 88 games between sides is 53 Barça wins, 20 draws and 15 defeats.

Depor v Barça is back

The winning record against Deportivo La Coruña is identical, albeit in four games more, as there have been 92 LaLiga matches between the Catalans and the Galicians. It's seen as a historic fixture in the competition, with league titles on the line in the past. They are back in Primera after having also been relegated to Primera RFEF not so long ago, as both they and Malaga return after an eight year absence.
