Another award for Leo Messi. The Argentine superstar, one of the most iconic players in FC Barcelona history, has been awarded the 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports. The jury announced the decision on Wednesday 3 June, adding yet another accolade to the remarkable collection of a truly legendary player.

As stated in the regulations governing the award, the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports is granted to "careers which, through the promotion, development and advancement of sport and its social dimension, have become an example of the benefits that sporting practice can bring to human beings."

A career full of success at Barça

This award is further recognition of Messi's extraordinary career. A Barça player from the age of 13 to 34, he devoted more than two decades of his life to the club, bringing joy to culers match after match, goal after goal, trophy after trophy. This Argentine talent, developed at La Masia, is the greatest player ever to wear the Blaugrana shirt.

His trademark moments of brilliance, 672 goals and 35 trophies won with FC Barcelona speak for themselves. Without a doubt, he is the greatest footballer of all time.
