The squads for the national teams at the World Cup continue to be confirmed and today saw Luis de la Fuente name the players selected for Spain. The current European champions are likely to feature the most FC Barcelona players in the squad of course. Some were obvious choices, but there was uncertainty about whether others would be at the tournament.

Ultimately, eight blaugranes have been called up. As usual, Lamine Yamal, Cubarsí, Ferran Torres, Pedri and Dani Olmo have been included, but the great end to the season sees Gavi return, and there is a reward of a call up for the superb seasons by both Eric Garcia and Joan Garcia.

Additionally, Marc Bernal is one of the nine players called up to be in the support group who will train and remain with the squad until the World Cup warm-up match against Iraq on 4 June.

Group H

One of the big favourites, Spain initially have to get through Group H, in which they will first play Cape Verde, who are at the tournament for the first time, Saudi Arabia in the second game, before the group stage ends with a match against Uruguay.
