The Zamora trophy acknowledges the keeper who has conceded the fewest goals in LaLiga and Joan Garcia is very close to being considered. He needs to have played at least 28 games and the Catalan stopper has now played 25, just three appearances fewer than the minimum required.

Fewest goals conceded

Joan Garcia's stats to date have been excellent, as he has only conceded 19 goals, making him the best performer with a ratio of just 0.76 goals conceded per game, and he would be ranked first for the Zamora trophy if he had made the minimum number of appearances.

As it stands and among the keepers to have already played at least 28 games, there are notable names such as Thibaut Courtois (24 goals conceded), David Soria (32) and Unai Simón (45), but none of them have such a low goals conceded per game ratio as Joan Garcia, with Courtois his closest challenger on 0.86.

Among the keepers yet to have played 28 matches, only Jan Oblak has stats that come close to the Catalan, with 25 goals conceded in 26 games (a ratio of 0.96). Other cases such as Dituro are ruled out due to having played a lot fewer games.

So, should Joan Garcia maintain the same level of performance in the next three games, he will both join the race for the Zamora trophy and be considered the favourite, as his stats to date make him the most decisive keeper in the competition.
