The second of three matches in 10 days against Atlético Madrid is almost upon us and coach Hansi Flick is ready. The Barça coach appeared in a press conference on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Spotify Camp Nou and revealed what he expects of his team. "We have to play our way. If we don't and we don't press then it's easy for our opponents to attack the space," said the blaugrana boss.
"Everyone has to be committed in defence. We have to be compact, well positioned and help each other. We have to attack and defend together," continued the German.
The support of the fans
Another key factor for Flick will be the home support at the stadium in the first leg. "Our fans will be very important. I have the feeling that there is a great connection with the supporters and they know when they have to help us," said Flick, ahead of the only match of the three against Atlético at Spotify Camp Nou.
The physical battle
Asked about the importance of the physical battle, Flick replied: "It's true that on Saturday [the 2-1 win at Atlético in La Liga] a lot of their players rested but they were still very good. They like to defend deep and it's not easy scoring twice at Atlético. I hope the physical aspect is not decisive."
The coach concluded by describing Wednesday's opponents as a "tough rival with great players" and that "both games will be emotional," at the same time dismissing the importance of several players on both sides being a caution away from a ban: "We have to focus on what we want to do. I don't like to complain or argue with players from the other team."
