Tommy Marqués has made his official FC Barcelona debut. The young midfielder came on in the 84th minute to replace Fermín López, becoming part of a 100% La Masia midfield alongside Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal. His debut was more than just a statistic. It was another clear sign of the club’s faith in homegrown talent.

A reward for hard work

Born in Barcelona on 30 October 2006, Tomàs Marqués (known in football as Tommy) joined the club in the summer of 2015 from CE Europa at U9 level. From there, his rise through the ranks was steady and consistent. He began the 2023/24 season on loan at CF Damm, before returning midway through the campaign to Barça's U19B squad.

In his third year at youth level he played a key role: 23 league appearances (scoring once), seven in the UEFA Youth League and five in the cup. After completing a treble of titles, he extended his contract and stepped up to Barça Atlètic.

This season he had already made his debut for the reserves on 7 September against UE Porreres. Since then he has featured 15 times, showing consistency and personality in midfield. His first-team bow came after a run of call-ups under Hansi Flick.

Partnership with Bernal and Casadó

Tommy entered the pitch moments after a brilliant piece of play from Bernal. Coming off the bench, the midfielder left fans stunned with a goal more typical of Lamine Yamal: driving into the box, cutting inside with confidence and finishing coolly. It was far more than just another goal. It was his first ever for the club, and a reward for patience, sustained effort and belief through a long injury layoff and a demanding recovery process.

Alongside him, Casadó delivered a commanding performance. Playing the full 90 minutes, he gave structure to everything that happened in midfield, balancing the team, providing clean build-up play and reading every phase of the game with maturity. Quietly but decisively, he was essential: linking the lines, controlling the tempo and showing the personality to take responsibility from start to finish.
