FC Barcelona have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey thanks to a 2-1 win over Albacete in the Carlos Belmonte stadium. The defence of the title won last season continues for Hansi Flick's squad with the two legged semi-final tie to come on 10/11/12 February and 3/4/5 March

It is the 16th time in the last 20 years that Barça have reached this stage of the competition and it is now the 62nd time in total, a reflection of the consistency of the club in the knockout competition. Of the 43 Copa del Rey finals they have played in, the blaugranes have won 32, making them the most successful club in the history of the tournament.

Furthermore, Hansi Flick has become the eighth coach in Barça history to reach the semifinals ob the first two occasions he has been in the Copa del Rey with the club, a record that underlines the solidity of the German coach's project.

Awaiting the opponent

The other games in the quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with games between Valencia and Athletic Club, Alavés and Real Sociedad and Betis and Atlético Madrid. Once those games are over, FC Barcelona will know their potential opponents in the semifinals. The draw will be on 6 February and will decide the match ups and route to the final.
