On Wednesday Barça face one of their biggest challenges of the season so far - finishing in the top eight of the Champions League initial phase. The blaugranes know that they need a win against Copenhagen at Spotify Camp Nou in their final fixture of the league calendar, the bigger the better. The objective is there and team is ready and confident according to Barça midfielder Dani Olmo, who appeared before the media on Tuesday at the Ciutat Esportiva.
"We are going into the game with the same desire. We know we are through but we want to finish in the top eight, that's our goal," said the blaugrana before adding: "The objective is to improve on last season."
The team have not changed their preparation ahead of the vital visit of the Danish league champions. "We are getting ready in the same way as always. We are a team who create a lot of chances and score a lot of goals. The first thing is to win and the second is scoring a lot of goals, something we always try to do," said Olmo.
With Frenkie de Jong suspended and Pedri out injured, Olmo did not deny that the two players would be missed. "They are important players but it's not an excuse. I can play in those positions, Bernal and Casadó as well. I will adapt and play wherever the coach wants. I have done that this season and there won't be any problem. Wherever Flick puts me, I'll give my all," Dani Olmo assured.
On his own form at the moment, Olmo appeared content but not completely satisfied. "I am happy with the way I am playing but I can do better. I am more consistent and that is good but I need to finish better. But, I think I can improve. The best part of the season is still to come and I want to keep contributing, scoring and winning," confessed the midfielder.
The presence of so many home grown players in the squad is a big positive for Olmo: "Having so many local players is very positive. We have been together for a while and we give that bit extra for the badge. You can see that with our desire and attitude in the jersey. Coming through form the youth teams is very important."
Finally, Olmo warned of being over confident against a Copenhagen side in 26th place in the table. "We expect a strong team, we are looking forward to the game tomorrow because the prize is a great one, " concluded the blaugrana.
