The pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League matchday seven fixture against Slavia Prague at the Eden Arena featured Alejandro Balde. The blaugrana fullback spoke to the media and highlighted how ready the team is, the excitement about the European challenge and the importance of remaining focused during this key League Phase match despite the low temperatures.

Regarding the premier club competition in Europe, Balde was clear about the hopes of the blaugranes. “The Champions League is the competition that every player dreams about playing in and winning. Barça want to win every trophy”, he assured. However, the fullback wanted to convey caution, stating that “The idea isn't to get where we got to last year, but win it, and we are taking it step by step. We want to be in the top eight first and then we'll see”.

The cold in Prague will be a factor for the game, but it isn't something Balde has wanted to use as an excuse. “I don't like the cold, but it is no excuse. We have to be focused on the game. If we do what we always do and maintain our level, we will take the three points”, he affirmed.

When it came to how the team are after the defeat last time out, the defender highlighted the confidence in the dressing room. “We are doing a great job. We are Barça and we always want to win. The team is confident and we will win if we play like we did against Real Sociedad. The ball doesn't go in sometimes, but I am sure it will go well if we play like that”. Along these same lines, Balde underlined the random part of football, stating “You only lose once when you play like that one thousand times. It's down to luck sometimes”.

Lastly, the fullback spoke about the room for improvement in the team and his role in the squad, assuring “You can always improve. We might concede more goals, but we also score a lot more, and what's important is you win”. On a personal level, Balde mentioned being able to play in different positions and the competition, stating “I try to adapt to every position the team needs, and that goes for the position itself too”.
