Barça’s season has had one clear theme: comebacks. Especially over the past month, with Flick’s side repeatedly overturning difficult scorelines to walk away with all three points. The latest example came on Tuesday in the Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt, though this one had a twist.
For a start, the opponents didn’t strike early this time. In La Liga, both Alavés (1st minute) and Betis (6th minute) hit Barça straight off the blocks, only for the Catalans to hit back quickly and head into the break already ahead: 2–1 and 4–1 respectively.
Behind at the break
Against Atlético Madrid, the goal conceded arrived in the 19th minute, just two minutes earlier than Eintracht’s opener (21st). That day, Barça again needed only seven minutes to level things. The sides reached half-time at 1–1.
But there was no immediate response against the Germans. Barça went into the dressing room behind. It's only the second time that’s happened at home in the Flick era, the other being against Leganés in a match that ended in 1-0 defeat.
This time, though, a second-half Jules Kounde brace restored order. The comeback was slower, more patient, and harder earned than the recent ones. But the final outcome was the same, and that’s what matters.
First ever four-in-a-row
In the end, it’s comebacks everywhere you look. Different shapes, same story. And the turnaround against Eintracht Frankfurt makes it four in a row, something never seen before in the club’s history.
Next up is Osasuna on Saturday. Surely Barça won't be pulling off yet another comeback?
