More blaugranes through to the 2026 World Cup finals as the Spanish national team secured top spot in their group with a 2-2 draw against Turkey in their final qualifier. Luis de la Fuente's side knew that only a catastrophic defeat would stop them from taking first place and automatic qualification and that was never really on the cards, especially after Barça's Dani Olmo gave Spain an early lead. Pau Cubarsí started the game as well and Ferran Torres and Fermín made appearances in the second half to complete the Barça presence on the night.
After Olmo's opener the Turks struck back with two goals of their own before Oyarzabal's goal maintained his team's unbeaten record in qualification. Five wins and a draw from six matches in group E sees Spain finish three points clear of second placed Turkey who head to the play offs.
Late drama sees Christensen join Roony
Blaugrana Andreas Christensen played all 90 minutes of a dramatic encounter against Scotland in Glasgow. The game was a showdown in group C with Denmark just a point ahead of their opponents going into the fixture. Scott McTominay put Scotland ahead in the game and in first place in the group before before Hojlund's penalty made it 1-1 and putting the Danes back in pole position for automatic qualification.
Denmark's hopes appeared to be dashed when down to 10 men, they conceded in the 78th minute, Shankland's goal making it 2-1 to the home side. However, Dorgu's equaliser revived hope of topping the group before the Scots landed two late blows in injury time through Tierney and McLean to seal qualification for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1998.
Andreas Christensen's team finish second in the group and now head to the play offs alongside Roony Bardghji's Sweden who made it through due to their Nations League performances despite finishing bottom of their group in qualification.
