Most FC Barcelona fans are likely to remember Alexis Sánchez for his moment of magic back on 26 October 2013. He managed to stop time momentarily in an FC Barcelona v Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou. A tremendous goal that will long in the collective blaugrana memory for its majesty and because it was in a Clásico. Definitely one of the highlights of the Chilean player's time in blaugrana, which he wore for three seasons.

Key man for Sevilla

That young man who joined Barcelona from Udinese in 2011 before leaving in 2014 is again crossing paths with FC Barcelona, in the LaLiga matchday eight fixture against Sevilla. After playing for clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Inter, the Chilean is back in the domestic league with the Andalusians. Now aged 36 years old, he is enjoying a second spell in the Spanish league as one of the key players in the new Sevilla project.

Coached by Argentinian Matías Almeyda, Sevilla have a veteran yet highly committed player in Alexis Sánchez. To date he has an assist and a goal, and he has been one of the leaders of the blaugranes' next LaLiga opponents. As such, there will be a special reunion for this Sevilla v FC Barcelona match, although none of the current squad members have shared a dressing room with Alexis Sánchez beyond assistant coach Thiago Alcántara.

This won't be the first time the former number nine has faced FC Barcelona, having faced the Club four times before, all in the Champions League, with all ending in a Barça win. The first was in the last 16 in the 2015/16 season, when Barça beat Arsenal over two legs – 0-2 in London and 3-1 at the Spotify Camp Nou. The next time was the quarterfinal return leg in the 2018/19 season against Manchester United, which ended 3-0. The last time was in the 2019/20 season group stage, with the blaugranes defeating Inter 2-1.

Blaugrana for three seasons

Beyond that goal against Real Madrid that Alexis Sánchez rated himself as “historic”, the Chilean won a LaLiga, a Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, one European Super Cup and a Club World Championship during the 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 campaigns. Six trophies in 141 games for Barça for a player, who with his cutbacks and wonderful chip against Real Madrid, left a great impression from his time with Barça.
