La Masia keeps on producing. Another player that came through the system made his competitive debut for the FC Barcelona first team at the Son Moix stadium in Mallorca, namely Jofre Torrents. The young 18-year-old defender got his first minutes under his belt in the first game of the 2025/26 LaLiga season, which saw the Catalans beat the Balearic Islanders 0-3. A few days on from his debut and in the gardens of La Masia, where he formed as a footballer, he stated that he is "very happy" and that the "work needs to continue".
The Catalan full back, who arrived at Barça in 2018, also stated he was "pretty nervous" about his debut, but that he tried "to do what he knew" once on the pitch. "I thought about everything that had happened once the game was over, of course, and I am really happy", emphasised the left back.
Jofre Torrents is the seventh player to come through the blaugrana youth system to debut under Hansi Flick. The defender made a point of highlighting the role of La Masia, stating "They have always looked after us, it's a centre that always gives everything so young people have the best possible conditions and it is very good".
He also defined himself as a footballer, stating he is "an attacking full back who likes to carry the ball to break lines. Very reliable in defence, and he always tries to give his best and help the team". What's more, he confirmed his benchmarks are two blaugrana players in Jordi Alba and Alejandro Balde.
As such, the 18-year-old player has an exciting season ahead of him. He can take pride right now for earning the right for chances to play for the FC Barcelona first team. We'll see how the story plays out from here, but Jofre Torrents will definitely be giving his all for the blaugrana jersey and for the Club where he developed.
Another session at the Ciutat Esportiva
Hansi Flick and the squad were in first thing in the morning for another training session to prepare for the upcoming Levante v Barça game on Saturday. Every available first team squad member took to the pitch and got down to work to be ready for the LaLiga gameweek two fixture, with another three points the aim.
